Sharm El Sheikh Celebrates Earth Day
In celebration of Earth Day 2025 is part of the JAZ Go Green initiative, the local Sharm Triathlon Club cycling community joined forces with JAZ Gives Back and JAZ Hotel Group, and several key partners for a day of environmental action and awareness in Sharm El Sheikh.
The event was organized in collaboration with Green Sharm, the Ministry of Environment, Sharm Triathlon Club, Baddel, Eco Egypt, and UNDP Egypt, bringing together businesses, government, civil society, and the local community in a united effort for the planet.
The celebration featured a community cycling initiative supported by Baddel, followed by a ride on Sharm’s new electric bus, promoting sustainable and clean transportation in the city. Participants also participated in a local clean-up campaign in the Fanar area, helping keep the coastline pristine and setting an example of community-driven environmental stewardship.

This Earth Day also marked the pilot phase of Sharm El Sheikh’s electric bus program, which ran from April 13 to April 30, 2025, offering free rides to the public. Official operations will begin on May 1, 2025, with tickets priced at EGP 20. The electric buses will operate daily from 2:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., following a test route from the Old Souk, along Al Salam Road and Sheikh Zayed Road behind the airport, through Naama Bay Square, and back via Nabq Street, Airport Front Road, and Al Salam Road to the Old Souk.
This is more than just transportation; it’s a reimagining of how we move through our cities, building toward a greener, smarter, and more humane future for our planet.
